Dr. Ana Cepero is a Miami native. She moved to Gainesville in 2003 and graduated from the University of Florida with a major in Animal Biology in 2007. She later earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 after completing her last clinical year back at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she completed a one year internship program at Miami Veterinary Specialists, rotating through emergency, internal medicine, and surgery services. She has been working in general practice since 2013 and worked emergency for Pet 911 in 2015.
When not working, she enjoys scuba diving, music, dancing and spending time with her husband, family, friends and pets.
Aniel Gomez was born in Herradura, Cuba. Aniel was born with a love and passion for animals and brought that passion when he moved with his family to Miami at the age of eight. After graduating from high school, he moved to Homestead where he has been an active member in the community. He attended the rigorous Veterinary Technology Program at Miami Dade College Medical Center. After completion in 2010, he began working at Miami Veterinary Specialists where he quickly worked his way up to become head technician of emergency and eventually Emergency Manager in 2013. In June of 2015, with the help of MVS, he created and launched Pet 911, an urgent care & ambulance service for animals.
Aniel also enjoys horseback riding, competing in team roping events and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Dr. Lowell Olson was the founder of Avocado Animal Hospital when it opened in 1986. He has treated countless numbers of Homestead's pets for decades and eventually sold the practice to Dr. Cepero and Mr. Gomez in November of 2015. Dr. Olson continued to work with us for 2 years before he finally retired in December of 2017. He is enjoying his retirement at home and continues to be a staple of our community.
Dr. Jade Echagarrua is the newest meber of our team. Originally a Miami native, Dr. Jade graduated from the University of Florida with a major in Animal Biology in 2011. She later earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in January of 2016 after completing her last clinical year working in Large Animal care at the Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she worked her first years in Miami before finally moving to Homestead and joining us in October of 2017.
When not working, she spends most of her time working on her little farm at home with her chickens, goats, pigs, cats, and dogs.
